FEATURED CONTRIBUTOR
Leena Halees
is an award-winning Palestinian writer, spoken word poet, human rights advocate, and community organizer. She is the founder and executive director of We Liberate the World, a grassroots nonprofit organization. Rooted in ritual and rebellion, her poetry conjures memory as resistance and voice as homecoming. Her work serves as a vessel for ancestral continuity, collective grief, and radical imagination—a spoken inheritance that prophesies liberated futures beyond borders, beyond silence, and beyond the limits of colonial time.
She was the second-place winner of the 2024 Room Magazine Poetry Contest, judged by Rafeef Ziadah, and her writing has appeared in Soul in Space Magazine and Muchacha Fanzine. Through her art and organizing, Leena bridges the poetic and the political, exploring how personal voice becomes a site of return, resistance, and reawakening. She is currently developing her debut poetry collection, a lyrical meditation on exile and trauma, the rhythms of embodied life, and the reclamation of joy and collective healing.
